Dear TJ community,
Along with the recent nationwide conversation around diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, many of you have raised questions about equity as it relates to TJ, including long-standing issues pertaining to the student experience, admissions, access to STEM education for students in FCPS and surrounding cities and counties, and more.
The Thomas Jefferson Partnership Fund (TJPF), a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable foundation established in 1999 that supports the unique learning opportunities, specialized curriculum, and innovative research experiences available for the students of TJ, recognizes the importance of giving voice to these concerns, connecting them to the individuals within our community who are empowered with the relevant resources, and making measurable progress on these issues in order to further the development of TJ.
To that end, on Thursday, September 17th, from 5:30-7:00pm, the TJPF will facilitate a town hall on the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness at TJ. We have invited influential stakeholders to take part in the conversation and identify potential solutions, and they include representatives from:
• FCPS School Board
• FCPS Superintendent’s Office
• Virginia Department of Education
• TJ Administration
• TJ Admissions
• TJ Alumni Community
• TJ PTSA Diversity Committee
• Current TJ Student Body
Details on how to access the town hall can be found here. We hope you can attend and make your voice heard.
Sincerely,
The TJ Partnership Fund
